About the program:
The Whitman Summer Studies in China program is a six-week academic program administered by Whitman College in cooperation with Yunnan University in Kunming specifically for Whitman students interested in Chinese Studies. The purpose of the program is to give students an opportunity to study conversational Chinese intensively in an environment where it can be put immediately into practice, as well as a chance to learn first-hand about Chinese culture and contemporary society by living and studying there.

• Program Dates: May 27-July 8, 2027
• Earn 6 Credits
• Study Chinese language intensively
• Travel in China with fellow Whitties and two Whitman faculty leaders (Prof Ruoning Han and Prof Wencui Zhao)
• Learn about the history of China's ethnic minorities
• Need-based and Merit aid available
   

*All first, second and third-year students are warmly invited to join us to learn about the Whitman Summer Studies in China program, a 6-week study abroad program in Kunming, China exclusively for Whitties and led by two Whitman faculty. *

Both faculty leaders will be in attendance at the meeting, which will cover details about the courses, housing, academic travel, application process and financial aid.
