In the Walla Walla River Basin, there is not always enough water available to meet the needs of our local communities, Tribes, farms, and aquatic ecosystems. The Walla Walla Basin Watershed Strategy is a collaborative effort to meet the Basin’s growing water needs and provide water for healthy rivers, fish, farms, and people.

You’re invited to the 2025 Walla Walla Basin Watershed Strategy Open House! Join us to learn about water challenges and stream health in the Basin, and what we are doing to address these issues. The Open House is open to all ages, and will have stations to explore, interactive activities, as well as a series of presentations from local water experts (presentation topics below).

Where: Reid Campus Center Ballroom at Whitman College

When: Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 4:30–7:30 p.m.

Stations will be open throughout the whole evening (4:30 – 7:30), and presentations will follow this approximate schedule:

  • 5:00 – Welcome from Umatilla Tribes & First Foods Introduction
  • 5:10 – Walla Walla 2050 Overview
  • 5:20 – Fish Recovery in the Walla Walla Basin
  • 5:40 – Understanding Water Through Science
  • 6:00 – Panel Discussion on Ensuring Enough Water in the Basin for Fish, Farms, and People
  • 6:40 – Moving Forward Together & Closing Remarks
