About this Event
A public lecture given by Barbara G. Brents, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Brents is a foremost expert in sex work in the United States and abroad. This talk will discuss her most recent work analyzing the experiences of sex workers who have been harmed while providing sexual services. Brents and her team of international collaborators examined how legal structures changed the perceptions of sex workers about their victimization, using Aotearoa/New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States as examples of legalized, partially criminalized, and fully criminalized national contexts. Come learn what the team learned about how law changes the perceptions of victimization in sex work!
