This two-hour clinic is designed for people who want to learn how to top rope, climb and belay. You will first learn how to tie into a harness and belay using the PBUS belay method, which is the preferred belay method at the Whitman College Climbing Center. You will practice climbing and belaying (with a backup belayer) for the remainder of the clinic and get ready to take a proficiency test the next time they are offered. (No experience necessary.)

To pay for the clinic, please see the front desk upon arrival and let them know you’re there for the clinic during the check-in process. If you have never been to the gym before, please plan to arrive early if gym hours allow. There is no formal registration, we just ask that you show up and pay at the front desk to participate.
