Whitman welcomes Latin American Playwright and Theater Director Hugo Salcedo to campus for a series of events.
Hugo Salcedo has received numerous national and international awards, including Spain´s prestigious Tirso de Molina for his play El viaje de los cantores (The Crossing), one of the best plays on immigration never written. This play also won the Best Mexican Play in 1990, awarded by the National Association of Mexican Playwrights. Mr. Salcedo is a founding member of Teatro del Norte in Mexico. His work has been staged in the United States (Goodman Theatre, Chicago), Spain, Venezuela and Peru.
