Her research focuses on the political, social, and economic history of ancient Athens, histories of immigration, citizenship, race, ethnicity, women and gender in the ancient Mediterranean, and the reception of antiquity in modern identity formation. She is co-editor of Race and Ethnicity in the Classical World (Hackett 2013) and Handbook of Identity and the Environment in the Classical and Medieval Worlds (Routledge, 2016) and author of Immigrant Women in Athens (Routledge 2014).
