You are warmly invited to attend a screening and community discussion of a remarkable film "Jornaleros" ("Day Laborers"). This 30-minute film documents the lives and creative work of five Portland day laborers. The film humanizes the controversy about day laborers by showing these migrant workers, first and foremost, as artists and activists in the community.
After this film screening, there will be a bilingual community dialogue for about an hour about the issues raised in the film with Romeo Sosa, director of the Voz Workers' Rights and Education Project. Voz is the Portland based immigrant and workers rights organization which created the film in 2011.
This event is sponsored by the Whitman Politics Department and is free and open to the Public.
