Join Seattle-Based Gansango Music and Dance, led by Artistic Director Etienne Cakpo, to learn movement from across the African continent, drawn heavily from the dance and music traditions of Benin, Ghana and Togo, among other countries. Live drums (djembé, djun-djun and paholé) and percussion (shaker and bell) accompany this opportunity for older children and adults of all abilities to learn about and experience these exciting forms.
This workshop is hosted by the Department of Theater and Dance and the Whitman African Student Association, supported by the Ashton J. and Virginia Graham O'Donnell Endowment in Global Studies.
