The Whitman African Student Association invites you to a performance by Gansango Music & Dance. Gansango is directed by Etienne Cakpo, originally from Benin and now a choreographer and teacher based in Seattle, Washington. Gansango's performances fuse music and movement from across the African continent, drawing heavily from the dance and music traditions of Benin, Ghana and Togo, among other countries and will feature traditional dance from Benin. Live drums (djembé, djun-djun and paholé) and percussion (shaker and bell) accompany this performance of traditional and contemporary dance.

This workshop is hosted by the Whitman African Student Association and the Department of Theater and Dance, supported by the Ashton J. and Virginia Graham O'Donnell Endowment in Global Studies.
