Free The People is a three part docuseries detailing 6 months of the 2020 Black Lives Matter movement in Washington, DC from Juneteenth to Thanksgiving. It was filmed, edited and directed by Kintsugi Kelley-Chung (Formerly known as Kian Kelley-Chung) and Andrew Jasiura, two young independent filmmakers who just graduated from the University of Maryland before the uprisings began. Our mission was to document this historical moment and ensure that it was remembered and retold from the perspective of the activists that on the frontlines, not just from the corporate news agencies that were far removed from the people.
