https://www.whitman.edu/president/native-american-outreach ##nativeamericanoutreachWhitman College Native American Outreach and Bon Appetit at Whitman College have collaborated together to launch a station dedicated to educating and representing the traditional foods of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, known as the First Foods. The launch event is Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. in Cleveland Commons Dining Hall. Remarks will be shared by Jeanine Gordon, Shannon Null, Kristen Parr, and Althea Huesties-Wolf and then the First Foods Station will be open for lunch and dinner. Following this initial launch, the First Foods Station will pop-up every first Friday of the month during the academic year, except during Winter Break in December.
The menu for the December 6 First Foods Station, with words of the weyiiletpuutímt and Umatilla languages, will include:
