Join Whitman's own Dr. Kirsten Nicolaysen, Associate Professor of Geology, as she explains technologies such as carbon sequestration, underground mineralization, and atmospheric geoengineering that might be adopted to reduce the intensity of climate change. After reviewing advantages and drawbacks of these technical solutions, she will highlight some actions that we can take individually to promote carbon removal from the atmosphere and to reduce carbon emissions.
Dr. Nicolaysen is a native of rural Wyoming and earned a Master's Degree in Geology at the University of Wyoming as well as a doctorate in Geochemistry at MIT. She has a deep background on the study of volcanoes and teaches courses on minerals, rock formation, and environmental geology.
