Please join Whitman's Gender Studies Department for the screening of Rafiki, dir. Wanuri Kahiu. 2019 on Tuesday, April 21 at 7PM.
Rafiki, a Swahili term meaning "friend" is a Black Kenyan Film that continues to have socio-political consciousness and significance on queerness, blackness and politics in 2026. A film that whose significance transcends borders into present-day queer and trans discourse across the globe. We will have a student speaker introduce the film, a community memebr with opening remarks and then the film screening with time for discussion.
