About this Event
920 E Isaacs, Walla Walla, WA
The Northwest Coast of North America is a particularly treacherous place, and the more than two thousand shipwrecks that have taken place in that zone has earned it the name "The Graveyard of the Pacific." In this book talk, historian and author Coll Thrush will use the history of shipwreck along the Vancouver Island, Washington, and Oregon coasts to reframe cultural encounter, Indigenous survivance, and the settler colonial project. Dr. Thrush is Professor of History and Associate Faculty in Critical Indigenous Studies at the University of British Columbia.
