Whitman College will celebrate its 139th Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. (the processional started at 10:50 a.m.). The ceremony will be held on the south lawn of the Memorial Building.
The commencement speaker will be Charles (Chuck) F. Sams III, an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and distinguished conservationist and public leader who served as Director of the National Park Service from December 2021 to January 2025. Sams was the first Native American appointed to this national leadership role.
