Nancy Langston is an environmental historian who explores the interconnected histories of ecosystem health and human health. Her most recently-published book, Toxic Bodies (Yale, 2010) asks how and why endocrine disrupting chemicals have saturated our bodies and our environments.
Langston's lecture explores Anishinabeg opposition to toxics mobilized by open-pit iron mining in the Lake Superior basin, a region shared between the U.S. and Canada that has recently witnessed a major mining boom.
