Tolerance & Its Discontents: Toward Civil Discourse

Kate Shuster (Ph. D.) of the Southern Poverty Law Center will speak about civil discourse and its place in our current society. Kate is an activist, social researcher, and consultant. In 1996 Kate won the National Debate Tournament with her partner David Heidt; at the time; she was the third woman ever to win that event. Kate will be on campus as a guest of the Student Engagement Center and Whitman Teaches the Movement.
