Whitman welcomes Keith Watenpaugh as this year's historian for the Fiftieth Sivert O. and Marjorie Allen Skotheim Lecture in History.
Keith Watenpaugh is the author of the award-winning Bread from Stones: The Middle East and the Making of Modern Humanitarianism among other works. He is the Director of the Human Rights Studies Program at the University of California, Davis. His talk will connect his historical work and his contemporary humanitarian efforts to explore the dilemmas posed by the Syrian War, as well as the broader implications of the war on human rights and the future of the region.
