General Mattis is currently a visiting fellow at the Stanford Hoover Institution with an expertise in military history and military strategy.
His lecture will focus on the ongoing events in the Middle East, primarily on the Islamic State and the future of the conflict and issues in the region. The General will touch upon issues such as what America's role in the region and how he believes America should conduct its military strategy for the future.
General Mattis is a retired United States Marine Corps general who last served as the 11th Commander of the United States Central Command.
He previously commanded the United States Joint Forces Command while also serving NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.
