Andréa Gilroy-Comics Studies in classroom

Comics in the classroom have been increasing in visibility over the last decade, while volumes on teaching with comics and teaching about comics are coming out yearly and panels on comics pedagogy have begun to populate the conference programs of many of the most influential academic associations. Please join comics studies scholar and instructor in the University of Oregon's Comics Studies Minor Andrea Gilroy on how to bring comics into your classroom. She will cover topics such as the relationship between words and images in comics and the importance of comics’ formal elements like caricature, page layout, panels, and more. This is a public event and we encourage anyone interested in comics studies and teaching comics to attend. In particular, we welcome teachers and administrators from the Walla Walla public school system
